Diagnostic
Cardiac Catheterization can include: Right and/or left heart
catheterization, coronary arteriography, left ventriculography,
ascending aortography, specific arterial vascular arteriography
[coronary bypass grafts], ileofemoral angiography [for vascular
closure], selective infusion of therapeutic medications, diagnostic
intravascular ultrasound, Doppler coronary flow velocity
determination, deployment of a vascular closure device, measurement
of right and left heart pressure, and determination of cardiac
output (by thermodilution and/or Fick method). Routine vascular
access methods include: femoral (Judkins), brachial (Sones), and
radial (wrist).
Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) can include:
Percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty, endovascular
coronary stent deployment (with bare-metal and/or “drug-eluting”
stents), rotational atherectomy [percutaneous transluminal coronary
rotational ablation - using a Rotablator™],
directional coronary atherectomy, excimer laser coronary
angioplasty, transluminal extraction atherectomy, thrombectomy
[using an Angiojet™],
cutting-balloon angioplasty, foreign body retrieval,
counterpulsation [using an intra-aortic balloon pump]
Peripheral Arterial Vascular Angiography and Intervention
can include: Diagnostic arteriography [by selective injection or
contrast runoff] of the abdomen [descending aorta, renal, celiac,
superior mesenteric, inferior mesenteric], lower extremities
[iliac, femoral, superficial femoral, popliteal, and tibial,
peroneal], upper extremities [subclavian, axillary, brachial]
cervical [carotid, vertebral], and cerebral vessels. Device
intervention options for peripheral procedures include the devices
listed above, and cryoplasty (Polarcath™)
Pacemaker/Cardioverter-Defibrillator [ICD] Implantation:
Implantation of a single or dual-chamber permanent [or temporary]
pacemaker; bi-ventricular pacemaker implantation (single or dual
chamber), implantation of a single or dual-chamber implantable
defibrillator [ICD]; and bi-ventricular ICD implantation (single or
dual chamber).
Loop Recorder Insertion: Surgical insertion of an
implantable loop recorder (for long-term detailed arrhythmia
monitoring) |
